This is a talk by a New York taxi driver.
“I’ve been a taxi driver for almost nine years. Most of New York taxi drivers have their own taxis.”
“It’s a good job most of time. You can meet many people. I always work at night, because traffic is bad during the day. I live 15 miles outside New York and I go to work at 5:00 in the afternoon.”
“I always go home between 3:00 and 3:30 in the morning.”
“Some strange things happened late at night. One day I was taking a young woman home from a party. She had a little cat with her. When we got to her house, she found she had lost her key. So she climbed in through the windows. And I waited in the car with the cat.”
“I waited and waited. After I kept ringing the bell for half an hour, I decided to find out what was going on. I tied (绑) the cat to a tree and started to climb in through the window. The next thing was that the police came. They thought I was a thief. Luckily the young woman came downstairs( 楼下). She must have gone to sleep and forgotten about me and the cat!”
