Yesterday was my fourteenth birthday. In the morning, many of my friends came to my home and said "Happy birthday!" to me. I got some cute presents from them. Then we went to the park and had a wonderful time there. In the evening, we had a special family ceremony. I was happy to receive some money in "lucky" envelopes from my relatives. My mother cooked noodles for me, because noodles are for a long life. I was very happy the whole day.

In Britain, we say, "Life begins at forty." My husband is going to be forty this weekend. It's a special birthday, so I have a great plan. I'm going to hold a big birthday party for him with all our good friends and relatives, but I don't want him to know that now. It's going to be a surprise. What present am I going to give my husband? I can't say. That's a surprise, too.

I'm going to be twenty next Friday. In France, when you have a birthday, you often invite people out, so I'm going to invite some of my friends to go skating somewhere. I think that will be a lot of fun! Then we will have a big dinner in a nice restaurant. I'm sure my friends will give me a lot of gifts. I will go home at about half past seven, because I also want to spend some time with my family. My parents think the twentieth birthday important, so they may give me some special gifts.
